Plugged In offers hands-on workshops for beginners to advanced students covering a variety of different topics
such as songwriting and music business.
2-Day Songwriting Workshop
Open to all Plugged In students, as well as any youth ages 8-19 who are not in Plugged In
Saturday April 21, 2018 and Sunday April 22, 2018
Tuition – $175
Day 1: 1:00-6:00 PM
Location: Plugged In Band Program – 40 Freeman Place. Needham, MA. 02492
At the end of each Plugged In session there is a benefit concert that raises money for a charity chosen by the students. This workshop provides students the opportunity to learn more about the chosen charity, learn song-writing techniques, write, perform and record an original song. Students will also perform their original songs at the benefit concert!
On the first day, a representative from the charity will talk with the students about their organization and its work. By acquiring a deeper understanding of the cause, the experience of performing in the concert often becomes more meaningful for the students. Later in the day, students will break into groups, led by professional songwriters, and write songs based on their reactions to what they have learned and/or on any subject of their choice.
Day 2: Songwriting groups will meet at Plugged In in a mobile recording studio in 4 ½ hour shifts between 11 AM – 8 PM
Location: Plugged In Band Program –40 Freeman Place. Needham, MA. 02492
On the second day, we will spend time at Plugged In in a mobile recording studio, where a recording will be made of the students performing their original songs, which will then be sold to raise money for the charity.
